Chocolate Box 2019

Dear chocolate box author,

Hello, and happy chocolate box! This is one of my favorite exchanges, and I'm really excited for it this year. You know, in case that wasn't obvious from the length of this letter. I have a lot of thoughts about the things I'm requested, but obviously don't feel bound to any of the things I'm suggesting. I'll be happy with pretty much anything about the requested characters' relationship. I'm also not strict about my definition of shippiness, so as long as the feelings are present, I don't need a kiss or something concrete like that. I just really love these characters and their interactions.

I'm requesting fic for all my fandoms, but that's mostly because I don't have a good sense of how to prompt for art. If something in this letter catches your eye, I'd love to see art for it too. Thank you for your interest in creating for me at all!

Here are some general likes and DNWs.

DNWS:
  • Incest
  • Pregnancy
  • Explicit sex
LIKES:
  • Family fluff (found or biological)
  • Banter
  • Humor

  • Angst
  • Hurt/comfort
  • AUs, ridiculous or mundane
  • Urban fantasy

Below the cut are fandom specific details and prompts, if you'd like to see them. Either way, thank you again, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you create!

Dangan Ronpa

One of my favorite things about this series is how effectively it makes you attached to the characters before it starts killing them off. They’re all so ridiculous and over-the-top, and it’s great. In general, I’m a huge fan of things to do with characters’ talents or the day to day life at Hope’s Peak. Give me everyone worrying about practical exams or trying (and failing) to balance school with their careers. I’m also totally up for non-despair/non-Hope’s Peak AUs, if that’s what you’d like to do. Let them be happy for a change.

Sonia Nevermind/Pekoyama Peko

I'm always a little surprised that this ship isn't more popular. You’ve got these two girls who have been told their entire lives that they are living for something else, something that’s more important than them. And then they get to Hope’s Peak and get to experience a taste of normality, but they can never lose sight of their higher purpose. I’d love to see them bond over that. I also love the fact that right before Peko is executed, Sonia tearfully asks if all their time together meant nothing. An exploration of that could be devastating and I’d very much enjoy that. Or you could just do something cute and fluffy about their shared love of animals, I’m really not picky.

Ikusaba Mukuro/Kirigiri Kyouko/Maizono Sayaka

I love every component pair of this ship, so I’m a little surprised that there’s so little for them as a trio. They’ve each got an interesting mix of kindness and ruthlessness that varies between them and that could lead to all sorts of shenanigans. They all strike me as the sort of people who could get really competitive over minor things, for instance, so the three of them playing a board game might be fun. And I’m always a sucker for sap where the Tragedy is averted because Mukuro’s girlfriends convince her to turn against Junko, whether they know that’s what they’re doing or not. Or if you wanted to go entirely AU, I’d love something high fantasy with Sayaka as a queen, Mukuro as her general, and Kyouko the spymaster or something like that.

New Dangan Ronpa V3

Pretty much everything under the HPA heading applies here too, with the addition that I’d also enjoy Hope’s Peak AUs for these characters as well as non-despair Ultimate Academy AUs.

I do have one canon-specific DNW, in that I’d rather not get a story about the characters before they applied for Dangan Ronpa. I’m more interested in the characters as they were in the game than who they were before.

Harukawa Maki/Toujou Kirumi

And here we are, back at fighters with soft sides. I knew pretty much as soon as she was introduced that I was going to love Kirumi, and then the reveal with Maki made me very happy. I just wish that the two of them got a chance to talk about their shared motivations - they’re both willing to commit murder for the people who are important about them, whether that’s an orphanage or a country. Does that bring them together in an AU where Maki’s talent comes to light before Kirumi’s death?  On a lighter note, I love the idea of Maki’s affected stoicism completely failing in the face of Kirumi, who’s much better at keeping her own emotions under wraps. A non-despair AU in which Kirumi keeps doing favors for an increasingly flustered Maki could be incredibly entertaining. And of course if you wanted to do something with them at Hope’s Peak trying to figure out how to handle their practical exams without actually killing anyone, I will love it.

Persona 3

I really enjoy the way this series handles slice of life fantasy. The overarching storylines tend to be dark, but life keeps happening around them. This game in particular also has such a good atmosphere. The subtle sense that something is wrong that lingers over the city even as more light-hearted things are happening works so well. And I'm a sucker for the way that individual characters got to grow and change with relatively little interference from the protagonist. It felt like they had lives that started before the protagonist arrived and would continue after they died.

Aigis & Metis

Metis really intrigues me, both as a character and a concept. From the concept side, she’s basically a Shadow self, except that she has a Persona of her own and doesn’t seem to consider herself the same person as Aigis. From the character side, she’s a naive and overzealous character whose primary motivation is protecting her sister, which I love. I really just want to see more of her and her relationship with her sister. How much does she know before she finds Aigis, and how much does she figure out along the way? How does she feel right before merging back into Aigis? Any sort of AU where she’s her own person, whether because her claims of being Aigis’ sister are true or because they find a way for them to coexist, would also be more than welcome. What would happen if she came with Aigis to one of the spinoff games?

Aigis/Arisato Minako

The quintessential Minako ship. I love Aigis' devotion to Minako, and Minako in turn teaching Aigis how to be human.

Kirijo Mitsuru/Takeba Yukari

Seeing these two interact was one of my favorite parts of The Answer. They've come so far from the beginning of the game, and seeing the way they trust and support each other unconditionally by the end was really gratifying. I’d love to see that extend after the game, whether it’s because the Shadows aren’t entirely gone or Yukari taking Mitsuru someplace like an amusement park and asking her to trust that the roller coasters are fun. I would also be interested in the most ridiculous tropey fluff for these two, such as them somehow getting trapped in an elevator together. Or, if you’re more in the mood for angst, give me the passing glances and words on the tip of their tongues in the bad ending, or even in the time before they regain their memories in the good ending.

Iwasaki Rio/Nishiwaki Yuko

Rio's social link seemed to be setting up the fact that she was a lesbian, and then it completely dashed my hopes by giving her a love interest in the form of my least favorite social link from Minato's route. I'm still bitter about that, so why not fix it by giving her an equally sporty girlfriend instead? I'm up for the cheesiest of teen tropes for these two. Maybe Minako sneaks out of their room during the stay at the Amagi Inn, and they end up confessing. I'd also enjoy seeing them cheer each other on at sports events, or studying together to help Yuko become a trainer. Or go total AU and put them on SEES together, and let them figure out their feelings in between fighting Shadows.

Persona 4

I really enjoy the way this series handles slice of life fantasy. The overarching storylines tend to be dark, but life keeps happening around them. This game in particular has such excellent character interactions, both in the main story and in the world. I love the way people show up in each other's social links or hangouts, how they clearly have friendships outside of the main character. There's a lot of potential for fic running adjacent to the game.

Amagi Yukiko/Satonaka Chie

These two balance each other out so well in so many ways. Chie is more obviously brash but is also more aware of societal expectations, while Yukiko is more naturally reserved but cares less about what other people think. The way they can support each other in different areas really appeals to me. I am very much here for dumb tropey fluff for these two. Hurt/comfort after something goes wrong in the TV world, dance practice for LMB, taking care of Muku together, all of that would be great. On a totally different note, I’d love to see what would have happened if Yukiko had tried to run away before the game began. Would Chie try to discourage her, or would she go with her?

Amagi Yukiko/Kujikawa Rise/Satonaka Chie

I really enjoy the way Rise flirts with absolutely everyone in the main cast, but it feels like she's always calling Chie and Yukiko in particular cute. I can't help but wonder what would happen if the two of them decided to take her up on it one day. Yukiko and Chie are already so close, so I'd love to see how Rise fits into the relationship. Does she ever feel insecure about her place, and if so, how do Chie and Yukiko comfort her? I'd also be interested in discussions about their futures, whether Rise's return to the industry affects Yukiko's decision to stay at the inn and whether Chie worries that she'll be left behind. Or give me shameless fluff, like the three of them celebrating after the concert in Golden.

Matsunaga Ayane/Ozawa Yumi

I was kind of hoping that this social link would work similarly to the Kou & Daisuke one, and the fact that it didn't is disappointing to me. Yumi would have been great for helping Ayane become more confident, and Ayane could have supported Yumi as she figured out her feelings towards her dad. I'd love an AU where the Drama Club decides to do a musical instead, and Ayane winds up in the pit with a crush on the lead actress. It would also be fun to have Yumi join the Music Club next year, maybe thinking that it will help her express her real emotions instead of hiding like she does in acting. Or what would happen if one or both of them was shoved into the TV?

Crossover Fandom

Not much to say here. If you're looking at this section, I applaud you for your good taste in enjoying multiple things that I also like.

Frey (Impostors - Scott Westerfeld)/Ikusaba Mukuro (Dangan Ronpa)

I may be the only person who's consumed these two canons, but come on, both characters are teenage girls who've spent their whole lives learning to fight and kill while occasionally standing in for their more charismatic and nominally more important twin sisters to the point of having their very existences kept a secret. They have to have some fun stories to share.I'd love an angsty take on this, with each of them knowing that their relationship has to come second to their duties to their sister, but I'd be just as happy with ignoring that angle entirely. Give me the two of them fighting together and I'll be very happy.

Labrys (Persona 4 Arena) & Metis (Persona 3)

Okay, yes, technically Metis isn't really a character of her own outside of the Answer. But I love her, and I'd love to see how she reacted to meeting Aigis' real sister. Both Metis and Labrys are pretty emotional without having much real-world experience, which could be fun I’d love to see an AU where, after the Answer, Metis somehow becomes her own person and joins the Shadow Operatives with Aigis. How would her presence affect the Labrys retrieval mission or its aftermath? From the other end of the timeline, maybe Labrys somehow managed to hide in the Abyss of Time the way Metis claimed to, and the Answer gets even more confusing. Or, honestly, just put them in a mundane AU and show me the chaos that comes from all of the robots being sisters at once.

Mochizuki Ryoji (Persona 3) & Teddie (Persona 4)

On a scale from Ryoji to Teddie, how well do you take the revelation that you're a Shadow who forgot your original purpose by hanging out with your Persona-wielder friends? Or, in slightly less ridiculous terms, how would these two react to knowing they weren't alone? Do the specifics of Ryoji's situation make it hard for him to relate to Teddie's more light-hearted existence, or is he too happy to see that there's someone else even vaguely like him to care? Or skip the existential questions entirely and show me what sort of trouble two would-be womanizers who still don't quite understand humans get into. Maybe Teddie hears Ryoji from a distance and mistakes him for Yosuke, and things just snowball from there.

Kirigiri Kyouko (Dangan Ronpa) & Ema Skye (Ace Attorney), Saihara Shuichi (New Dangan Ronpa V3) & Shirogane Naoto (Persona 4)

The high school detectives (and a forensic investigator, but close enough). I didn't want to flood the tagset with them, but really, I'd love any combination of these four, so if you want to write Ema & Naoto or Kirigiri & Saihara please go ahead. I just think it would be fun to see any of these four characters colliding on a case. How do their methods interact? Does it matter that some of them are from canons where the supernatural is definitively present and others aren't? Alternatively, I'd be interested in seeing them react to someone else who shares their interests. Ema showing off her latest gadgets to Kirigiri would be fun, as would Naoto and Saihara bonding over their similar backstories and tastes in fashion.

Revolutionary Girl Utena

A quick note: while I'm okay with references to Anthy and Akio's canon relationship, I would prefer to downplay Nanami/Touga and Miki/Kozue. Canon levels of unhealthy devotion to or obsession with each other are fine, but I'd rather avoid any implications that it's sexual or romantic in nature.

I started watching this series for the sword fights, lesbians, and fairytale themes, and was delighted by the presence of all of them. I wasn't expecting the weirdness, nor the effectiveness with which it explored its themes while staying weird. I'd love to see something that can maintain a similar level of commitment to surreality, where impossible things may or may not be happening at any given time and everyone just takes it in stride. I also love the levels of intensity that surround pretty much everything that happens. They are still teenagers, after all.

Arisugawa Juri & Kaoru Miki & Kiryuu Nanami

These three are so much fun to put into a room together. Juri claims they're not friends while attending Nanami's parties to go hang out with Miki, and other than Nanami's underlings, none of them seem to have much of a social life outside the student council. It's the sort of strange semi-friendship that happens when you've been attending the same schools for long enough, exacerbated by the strangeness of the duels. I'd be happy just to see that dynamic extended, whether they're complaining over some new school regulation or teasing each other about their latest ridiculous situations. Or, for a more serious take on things, what would have happened if Nanami had actually gone to them about her fears about Touga or her realizations about Akio and Anthy?

Kaoru Kozue & Kaoru Miki

The way these two relate to each other is painful in the best possible way. They both care about each other, and they want to help each other, but they've each been messed up by their parents in exactly opposing ways that make it impossible for them to bridge the widening gap between them. Anything that can highlight that would be wonderful, whether it's Miki giving a piano concert or Kozue gossiping with her friends about the past. I'd also be interested in seeing them clear the air between them, whether it ends well or not. What would it take to drive Kozue to actually explain why she's dating all these boys? How does Miki react to the knowledge that Kozue was never that interested in the piano?

Fire Emblem Awakening

This was my first Fire Emblem game, and I had a blast with it. While the overarching plot was admittedly kind of weak, I really enjoyed getting to watch all these different characters grow and interact. The setting also allows for some of my favorite tropes, which I appreciate. Sure, it's generic high fantasy, but it's a lot more light-hearted than many and I enjoy the approach to how the presence magic has changed things. As far as fic goes, I'm always interested in exploring game mechanics like reclassing or the possibility of children showing up before their parents are married. I would also enjoy a more modern take on the setting that keeps all the fantastic trappings but updates the technology.

Lissa/Maribelle

These two are absolutely adorable together. I love how devoted Maribelle is to Lissa, and I love how put out Lissa is when Maribelle won't take care of herself as well, and I just love their dynamic. I'd be interested in seeing the beginnings of their friendship, what Maribelle was like before Lissa "saved" her and how that developed into their current easy camaraderie. Something set during the timeskip could also be fun, whether it's Maribelle comforting Lissa after she returns to the palace to find hints of Emmeryn everywhere or just trying to plan for Chrom's wedding without going crazy.

Maribelle/Cherche

These two are really similar at their core, in that they're both refined ladies who are willing to get their hands dirty when necessary. They also both can get somewhat scary, and I feel like they'd be pretty well equipped to deal with each other on that front. And they have a shared background in healing, which could be the thing that brings them together. After a battle gone wrong, Maribelle needs to recruit extra hands to the healing tent and finds that she enjoys working with Cherche. Or maybe, after the war, Cherche ends up as a diplomat to Ylisse and winds up spending a lot of time at court with Maribelle. And I'm always up for fluff regarding either of their mounts, such as Cherche taking Maribelle flying.

Noire/Severa

A quick note: I'm not particularly picky with regards to parents for the second gen, but I do enjoy Libra!, Nowi!, or Olivia!Noire and Henry!, Sumia!, or Cherche!Severa. I'm also fine with avoiding the subject of their parents altogether if that's what you'd prefer.

The Severa/Noire support was one of my favorites in the game, between how Noire feels so safe around Severa that she doesn't need her talisman and the fact that Severa can soften down her prickly front around Noire. They clearly trust and care about each other a lot, and I'd love to see that translated into a romantic relationship. I'd be up for sheer fluff here, like the two of them going shopping and seeing all the ways things are different from their future. Alternatively, show me a time Noire had to take care of Severa for a change. Or, if you've played Fates, how would things have worked if Noire had been sent to Nohr with Severa?

Izetta: The Last Witch

This canon hits on so many of my favorite tropes. Historical fantasy! Canon lesbians! Undying loyalty, both to countries and to people! There’s a lot packed into such a short space, and I enjoy it all.

Bianca/Ortofiné Fredericka von Eylstadt/Izetta

I knew this wasn’t going to happen in canon, but between Bianca’s reaction to Izetta getting injured and the way she was convinced to join the dance lessons, I was so hoping. I feel like Bianca might be a little more wary to intrude on the fairytale love story, so a fic about how Fine and Izetta convince her that they want her there might be adorable. A roleswap AU could also be a lot of fun; how would things change if Bianca was the princess and Finé the witch, for instance? Or if you wanted to transplant all three of them to a Space Opera AU or something, I would definitely be intrigued.

Izetta & Sophie

I really wish we’d gotten to see more of Sophie. We never get much of a chance to hear her side of the story, either in the fairytale or in the present day. Even when Izetta tries to reach out to her, she's too consumed by hatred for Eylstadt to even consider it. I'd be interested in seeing things from her perspective. Did she get anything from Izetta’s blood other than her magic? I’d also love to see a future for her. Maybe Izetta somehow manages to talk her down or capture her before the final battle, or maybe a guilty Finé manages to clone her again to try to make up for what her ancestor did

Ace Attorney

I think the reason I get so attached to every character in these games is how committed they all are to silliness. Everyone’s got their tragic backstories, and I am a huge fan of exploring those and making them suffer, but in the end no one is above doing ridiculous things. This isn’t to say I’m against more serious fic for this fandom, just that I’d rather not go entirely dark here. I’m also up for background ships, if you’re so inclined. My favorites are Franmaya, Wrightworth, and Klapollo, but I’m up for just about anything that doesn’t break up the requested ship.

Mia Fey/Lana Skye

The first generation defense/prosecutor ship, these two deserved so much more than what they got. I want to know everything about their “intellectual attraction” in law school, whether they did any of the dumb college cliches or took fun electives together or just commiserated over bad professors. I’d also love an AU where Mia survives and/or SL-9 doesn’t go horribly wrong, and they talk about their respective subordinates and how they’re doing (if you choose to do this and wanted to include background Wrightworth, I would be very pleased).

Ema Skye & Lana Skye

Here we are back at the fact that I’m a sucker for devoted sibling relationships. I love how far Lana is willing to go for Ema, and that Ema in turn has utter faith in her sister even when she doesn’t like her very much. I’d love to see what they were like before everything went wrong. Ordinary domestic things like Lana getting called to a parent-teacher conference or Ema showing off her latest forensic toys would be adorable. I’d also be interested in something set during the sequel trilogy. Has Lana been released from prison yet, and if so, what's she up to? Did they ever manage to return to their original closeness?

Rayfa Padma Khura'in & Franziska von Karma

It occurred to me after The Rite of Turnabout that these two have a lot of parallels. They both face familial pressure to be perfect despite not feeling like they can live up to it, and both compensate with haughtiness. They’re both pushed into the courtroom at a ridiculously young age. And while they manage to assert themselves as individuals, they then have to deal with the fact that they’ve probably contributed to innocent people’s deaths. It would be a lot of fun to see Franziska meet Rayfa right after that last trial. Rayfa’s just starting to consider a different perspective on trials, and Franziska could be a more tolerable middle ground between the Khu’rainese view of lawyers and Phoenix’s idealism. Maybe Franziska runs into her while in the country to check on Maya. Or maybe they meet before AA6 starts when Franziska and Nahyuta participate in a prosecutorial exchange program, and Franziska teaches Rayfa how to use a whip.

Rayfa Padma Khura'in & Trucy Wright

This started from a desire to see Rayfa interacting with someone relatively her own age, but then I thought about it too hard. Both of them have fathers who disappeared after wrongfully being accused of murder and siblings they didn't know about. It'd be interesting to see Rayfa put into a position of having to support Trucy through the Apollo revelation, particularly if she's not sure if that makes them siblings or not. I'd also be here for Rayfa getting curious about magic the way she is about forensic science. Trucy deserves to get to show off.

VA-11 HALL-A

This game has such a good juxtaposition of the grim cyberpunk elements and an overarching sense of optimism. Sure, prices are ridiculously overinflated and people die in horrific ways, but everyone can get a happy ending, and even the "bad ending" just has Jill go to stay with a friend for a while. I'd love to see that blend of themes carry into a fic.

Sei Asagiri/Stella Hoshii

These two were probably my favorite customers in the game. I love how devoted they are to each other, but my favorite thing is how casually close they are to each other. Stella knows how to make things make sense to Sei, and Sei completely sees through Stella's haughtiness, and it's wonderful. I'd be interested to see that knowledge help them on some sort of mission, whether it's something related to Sei's former job as a White Knight or just finding the best Mega Christmas presents before they're snatched up. I'd also enjoy something quieter that lets them focus on their relationship, like a visit to Virgilio's curry stand.
